Glass sculpture – the 50th Anniversary of the Vitranc Cup

The glass sculpture with gold-colored circles on the sides, received the third president of the Republic of Slovenia, dr. Danilo Türk (2007-2012) in March 2011, on the 50th anniversary of the Vitranc Cup in Kranjska Gora. This is evidenced by the engraved inscriptions on the 15 cm high, 8.1 – 10 cm wide and 3 cm deep object. On the front side of the sculpture in the form of an asymmetrical rectangle, there is an inscription in the middle »TO THE STATE PRESIDENT DR. DANILO TÜRK AT THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VITRANC CUP«. Along the upper edge is the year 2011 and a bilingual statement about the 50th anniversary of the event in Kranjska gora, and below are the sponsors.

President Türk received it as part of the events that took place on the anniversary of the continuous organization of skiing competitions in slalom and giant slalom on the legendary Kranjska gora slope.

On March 5, 2011, he attended and addressed the guests at the White Gala Dinner in Kranjska Gora, and the next day, he awarded the Organizing Committee of the Vitranc Cup.

The Swiss Carlo Janka won the jubilee Saturday giant slalom and the Austrian Mario Matt the Sunday slalom.The Slovenian Mitja Valenčič was an excellent 6th.

The sculpture belongs to the collection of protocol gifts of the third president of the Republic of Slovenia, dr. Danilo Türk, a selection of which is on display in the open depots of the Museum of Contemporary History in Pivka.
