In 2022, the Military Police Platoon of the 5th Provincial Headquarters of the Territorial Defence (5. PŠTO) received the Order of Freedom of the Republic of Slovenia (RS) with the corresponding document.
It is the highest award of the Republic of Slovenia for merits in the defence of freedom and assertion of the sovereignty of the Republic of Slovenia or only in connection with the said acts related to the gaining of independence.
It was awarded to members of Platoon by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, for “extraordinary services in asserting and defending the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Slovenia”, by order no. 094-01-13/19-4, on October 25, 2022.
The Order of Freedom of the Republic of Slovenia was donated to our museum by the Military Police Platoon of the 5th Provincial Headquarters of TO as part of a larger donation. On December 18, 2023, we took over the symbolic, valuable material that reflects his extraordinary contribution during the securing of independence processes in 1990 and in the war for Slovenia in 1991.
