The museum is undergoing renovation works, so access to the lift is not possible at this time. During this time, only the shared toilet facilities will be available.

Tuesday to Sunday: 10am to 6pm
Closed on mondays and public holidays, except February 8, April 27 and June 25.

Free admission on the first Sunday of the month.

FREE ADMISSION

Pre-school children, children form socially disadvantaged families, unemployed, disabled people and their companions, group companions and card holders of the Tourist card "Ljubljana Card", ICOM, ICOMOS, SMD, PRESS, AICA, ISIC, history students and guides with a museum license..

GUIDED TOURS

We offer guided tours of exhibitions in English, German and Italian for groups only by prior arrangement. One group can include up to 30 people. Larger groups are divided into smaller ones, which is always determined upon booking your tour. If you are planning on visiting with a larger group, note that the time gap between any two consecutive groups will be 15 minutes.

Getting Here

The National Museum of Contemporary History is located in Cekin Castle, Celovška cesta 23, Ljubljana.

You can find us in the middle of Tivoli Park in the center of Ljubljana next to Tivoli Hall. You can reach us on foot, by car, bus or city bike. The museum is located 1.5 km from the main Ljubljana bus station and the Ljubljana railway station.

ON FOOT OR BY BIKE
Follow the streets that take you from the city center to the Tivoli Park. Follow the signs along treelined avenues, past fountains and children's playgrounds, towards the baroque mansion, Cekin Castle, home of The National Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia.

BY CAR OR BUS
You can also get here by car (coach) and park at Tivoli car and coach park. It is only a short distance from there to the Museum.

CITY BUS
A city bus number 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 or 25 will take you to Tivoli bus stop, from where you walk towards the park and Cekin Mansion is about 100 metres away.

Accessibility

Our premises are accessible to all visitors, as we want as many people as possible to enjoy the building, collection and exhibitions.

The museum is equipped with ramps and an elevator. People in wheelchairs can move around the exhibition spaces independently.
The toilet facilities are suitable for people with reduced mobility.

With prior notice, we also provide parking next to the museum for visitors with reduced mobility. Please notify us of your visit in advance at info@muzej-nz.si or call us at +386 1 300 96 10.

We are aware that pets today are associates, companions, friends, family members, as well as tourist travellers – therefore, we are open as well for the population, whose companions are dogs. Please take into account our Code of Conduct for Dog Owners.
