“Their laws, our lives”* – The beginnings of the LGBT movement in Slovenia

July 4, 2024 – September 29, 2024

The beginnings of the LGBT community in Slovenia date back to the mid-1980s, when a series of events, meetings, artistic and cultural projects laid the foundations for today’s community, which strives for emancipation and respect for all sexual orientations and gender identities.

The National Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia will commemorate the early years of the LGBT movement in Slovenia with a panel exhibition on the museum platform, featuring photographs of events, posters and other objects. The exhibition is being created in cooperation with several individuals and museum institutions who have lent material from their collections.

The exhibition is part of the 40 Years of the LGBT Movement project in cooperation with the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana and the ŠKUC Association.

Opening of the exhibition: 4 July 2024
