Exhibition The Beginning of Something Great will mark the 70th anniversary of the 1st International Graphic Arts Exhibition, which in 1955 placed Ljubljana on the global artistic map. This groundbreaking event marked the beginning of the story of the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts—one of the oldest events of its kind in the world—which significantly contributed to the international cultural integration of the Yugoslav environment.
The exhibition will shed light on the broader socio-political and, above all, cultural context of 1955. It will showcase a rich array of materials from the 1st International Graphic Arts Exhibition, artworks, and photographs of concurrent economic, cultural, and major exhibition events.
The exhibition is a collaboration between the International Centre of Graphic Arts (MGLC) and the Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia (MNSZS).
