Box decorated with shells and sea snails

The box was made by the print operator and artist Janez Lajevec in the Italian concentration camp Rab. He was captured in Ljubljana   in August 1942 and sent to the camp. After the capitulation of Italy and the reorganisation of the Rab Brigade, he worked in various partisan printing houses, e.g. Urška, Triglav, Slovenia, and illustrated publications with linocuts. In February 1945 he was appointed manager of the Doberdob printing house.
