Book of orderly duties (26. 12. 1972 – 10. 5. 1973)
In 2022, with a temporay exhibition entitled »Slovenika, you are truly beautiful!« Exhibition on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first section of motorway in Slovenia, the National Museum of Contemporary History marks the 50th anniversary of the first highway section in Slovenia and Yugoslavia, namely the Vrhnika–Postojna section. Together with objects and audio testimonies, more than 40 photographs on display depicting everything, from the first mine sprung in the building site before the beginning of works to very complex building phases and the solemn opening of the highway section two years later, will illustrate the process of modernisation of the road network in Slovenia.
With the highway new professions were introduced, including people for toll collection, workers who maintained the highway and duty service who controlled the traffic on the highway non-stop and took immediate steps when necessary. When on duty, during their shift, the duty service always registered a short report on all events in a book of orderly duties.
On display is the Book of orderly duties for the period between 26 th December 1972 and 10th May 1973, being as well an announcement for the exhibition which will be on view between 15th June and 31st August 2022.
