The Turistična družba Kompas d. d. Collection (1948–1978)
Curator: Irena Ribič

The collection, gifted to the National Museum of Contemporary History in 2015, contains almost 10,000 photographs. Predominantly, 6 × 6 and 6 × 9 cm formats were used, the Leica format was rarely used.

For advertising purposes, the company hired photographers from different parts of Slovenia and with various photographic affinities. Photographs were used on posters, in catalogues, leaflets, etc. The most beautiful and compelling images of the countryside, cities and tourist destinations were used to attract as many tourists into the country as possible. In its early years, the company employed their own photographer Jože Mally, who, along with some other photographers, namely, Vojko Arrigler, Kutnar, Romih, Jaka Čop, Dolničar, Marko Jereb, and Hribar, provided the Putnik (The predecessor of the Tourist Company Kompas d. d..) company with their photographs. Later, Mally and Mitja Škof travelled Slovenia and Yugoslavia to photograph tourist destinations around the country.
