We are very pleased to be able to reopen the doors of our Museum. To ensure the safety of yourself and others, please, be sure to follow these precautions:

Museum etiquette in the time of coronavirus

Upon entry:
• Only healthy individuals (showing no signs of illness including cough, congestion, rhinorrhea, or increased production of respiratory secretions) may enter the Museum.
• Please, bring your own safety mask and keep it on during your visit.
• Entrance to exhibition spaces is only possible for individuals, families, and small groups (up to 6 people).
• Please, enter the Museum individually and disinfect your hands with hand sanitizer.
• Keep in mind that we can only accept cashless payments.

During the visit:
• Keep a 2m distance between you and other visitors.
• Follow the signs indicating the direction of movement while visiting the exhibitions.
• Please, follow cough etiquette precautions and hand hygiene.
• Unfortunately, you are not allowed to browse through the publications on sale at the museum shop.

Visits to the Fototeka photo library and the library are currently not permitted – you can order the material via e-mail.

Closed on public holidays, with the exception of February 8, the Slovenian Cultural Holiday

On national holidays: 27 April, 1 and 2 May the museum is open between 10am and 6pm. Museum will be closed on 15 August.

Free First Sundays:  Every first Sunday of the month, admission is free for all visitors.

The National Museum of Contemporary History is located at Cekin Mansion in the middle of  Tivoli Park in the centre of Ljubljana. It can be reached by foot, by car or by bus. In the first case please follow the city map. A street leads directly from the centre to the park. Follow the signs along treelined avenues, past fountains and children's playgrounds, towards the baroque mansion, Cekin Castle, home of The National Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia.

You can also get here by car (coach) and park at Tivoli car and coach park. It is only a short distance from there to the Museum. A city bus number 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 or 25 will take you to Tivoli bus stop, from where you walk towards the park and Cekin Mansion is about 100 metres away on the right. The Museum is located close to public parking facilities (Tivoli Park) and a bus stop for city buses nos 1, 3, 5, 7, 15 and 16. The Museum is 1.5 km from the main Ljubljana Bus station and Ljubljana Railway Station.
